HILLSBOROUGH
HILLSBOROUGH, CALIFORNIA
Hillsborough is a town of mansions that prides itself on its lovely roads, rural atmosphere and excellent public schools.
Hillsborough is primarily a bedroom community with winding, tree-lined streets and no need for commercial areas, apartment buildings, or stoplights. This undoubtedly contributed to Hillsborough’s recent rating as one of the safest towns in the Bay Area with a population of over 10,000.
The six-square-mile town of Hillsborough was incorporated in 1910. William Davis Merry Howard, a descendant of President William Howard Taft, and his family are credited as the town’s founders. Today Hillsborough is a beautiful, quiet neighborhood and an excellent place to raise children. Worth magazine listed the town as the seventh richest community in America in 2002.
To some, Hillsborough is known as one of the most desirable communities in the United States, but to many more, it is known as the elegant and gracious host of the oldest continuously running car show in the West. The Concours d’Elegance, a display of prestigious and antique autos benefiting the Hillsborough public schools, takes place on the first Sunday in May. Running since 1956, the Classic Car Show and Family Carnival welcomes 7,000 visitors to charming Hillsborough.
